It's a lowkey killswitch, its sold under the guise of security and it does provide that but the power is in the hands of the cert authorities and all major browsers have now FORCED https, they literally will not load a http site anymore without showing a scary warning and then obfuscating the link to continue, most people simply don't go any further and thats the end of it, the site or service is essentially blocked. it's really the fault of the browsers, they dont have to treat http like it's a virus, they dont even have to show a special warning page, just simply display the url in red text or an icon next to the url bar with a red X or whatever, they actually used to do this up until about 8 years ago.
